It is time to take pride in fighting and winning the war in which we have always proven victorious, the war against disease. We all know someone who has been, or will be, touched by some horrible illness. Granting these people - ourselves, our families, and our neighbors - hope for a better tomorrow should always be a national priority.
I believe that Americans deserve the best health advances that medical science can provide.
I affirm that investment in medical research to improve health, develop treatments, and cure disease is a moral responsibility of our leaders, and a priority for the American people.
I pledge to educate candidates and elected officials about the importance of federal funding for health research through the National Institutes of Health and other federal agencies.
